FAQs About Pet Boarding – As all pet parents know, it’s not easy leaving a beloved pet behind in someone else’s care when going out of town on a business trip, emergency, or taking a vacation.
It’s vital that your pet is in the care of someone you can trust, loves animals, knows how to care for them, and is able to accommodate any special needs your pet may have.
When choosing Big Times Kennel, rest assured that you can check each of the following FAQs about pet boarding off your list.
Top 11 FAQs About Pet Boarding
Are you able to keep my pet for two weeks?
Whether it’s only for a day, long weekend, or two weeks, we can accommodate your pet for as long as needed.
I need a quiet and safe place for my cat to stay when I’m out of town. How do you keep the dogs from disturbing the cats in your care?
The all-inclusive cat accommodations are in a separate area away from the dogs. Your cat will enjoy their very own carpeted condo to jump, climb, and nap as they please.
Do you take multiple dogs and cats from the same family, and can they be boarded together?
We can certainly care for multiple pets at the same time. Our dog kennels and cat condos are expandable so we can open them to allow for more room.
I have a dog who is a regular escape artist. How can I be sure that he will be secure in your facility?
Dogs have access to the outdoors for 11 hours every day. The outside runs are double-fenced on both sides and back, so there is nowhere to escape.
My dog has anxiety issues. How do you handle pets so they remain comfortable in your care?
We treat every pet as though they are our own with the same love and care. We know what to look for and how to approach pets that are timid or have anxiety.
My pet gets medication and is on a special diet. Can those things be accommodated?
If your pet has either or both of these needs, bring their medication, special food, and instructions for each. We will take care of making sure your pooch or kitty gets what they need when they need it. The only thing we do not do is administer shots.
How do I know that the kennel will remain clean and odor-free while my pet is there?
Both dog and cat accommodations are sanitized daily on a regular schedule. Inside dog areas are cleaned and sanitized twice each day and three times daily outside. Cat condos are sanitized at least once daily (more often if necessary) and given a fresh supply of kitty litter. Also, the dog kennels and cattery are equipped with medical-grade air purification systems to keep air fresh and germ- and odor-free.
Can I call to check in on my pet?
Absolutely! If we are tending to our guests and do not answer immediately, please leave a message, and we will get back to you. When picking up your pooch or kitty, you will receive a full report about their stay, so you know how they did while in our care.
What happens if my pet has a medical issue or emergency while boarding at Big Times Kennel?
We will contact you and, with permission, take your pet to the vet or an emergency clinic for evaluation.
How do I know that my pet is not being neglected and left alone all day?
Owners, John and Maureen, live on-site and are genuine “pet people.” They are the primary caregivers and have decades of experience caring for pets. In addition to boarding, Maureen is a pet groomer, and John has a dog training facility on their property. Caregivers will interact with your pet throughout the day, giving plenty of pats, scratches, praise, and treats!
