Is Your Dog Well-Mannered?
Which one of these scenarios have you, as a dog owner, faced? Your plan is to host a family birthday party, but only a couple of people said they could make it once you announced it was at your home. A new family came to dinner at your home and their preschooler is afraid of dogs. Their visit was cut short since their child wouldn’t stop clinging to Mama since your dog wouldn’t stop barking. You have to plan to be home when a package is delivered since you are worried that your dog will attack the mailman.
Do any of these scenarios sound familiar? Sounds like you need our Manners 101 class!
There are so many facets to manners and obedience. Even if your dog does well in one area, he may not be strong in another area. Even if your dog doesn’t fit one of these scenarios, there may be some fine-tuning to do to enhance your dog’s obedience.
Here are the many questions to consider when you are thinking about whether or not your dog is obedient:
- Does your yard look like a minefield from dog digging?
- Does the dog jump up on you or your guests?
- Does your dog follow your commands every time they are given?
- Who is walking who when going on a walk?
- Do they come when they are called?
- Will they cease barking when told to?
- Are they housebroken?
